Qiyaam

September 17, 2006

Sahl Bin Sa’d, Jaabir Bin ‘Abdillaah, and ‘Alee Bin Abee Taalib all reported that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said:

“Jibreel came to me and said, ‘O Muhammad, live as long as you wish –- you will surely die; love whoever you wish –- you will surely depart from him; and do as you wish –- you will surely be judged according to it. And know that a believer’s honour lies in his Qiyaam at night, and his dignity is in being (financially) independent from other people.’

[Recorded by at-Tabaraanee (in ‘al-Awsat’), al-Bayhaqee, and others. Verified to be Hasan by al-Albaanee in ‘as-Saheehah’, 831.]

  1. Assalaamu alaikum,

Came to your web page through shadows15 blog. Masha Allah, the very first post itself is inspiring a lot. I had never come across such a Hadeeth, and I could visualise how much naseeha is contained in that. May Allah enable us all to be on the straight path and forgive us all and grant Jannah. Aameen. Jazakallahu Khair for sharing this sister,

    sister in Islam.
